Daraar is a 1996 Hindi language film directed by Abbas-Mustan starring Juhi Chawla, Rishi Kapoor and Arbaaz Khan in his film debut. The film is inspired by Sleeping with the Enemy starring Julia Roberts. Khan received the Filmfare Best Villain Award for his portrayal as a possessive husband.

Vikram (Arbaaz Khan) is an overreactive husband. He can't control his anger and rage so he continuously beats his new wife, Priya (Juhi Chawla). She then decides to run away, she ran away from a boat. Vikram thought she died, by drowning. The truth was she ran away to Shimla. There she meets Raj Malhotra (Rishi Kapoor). He falls in love with her. But she always is getting farther away from him. Later when she gets sick of him following her, she asks her mother what she should do. Her mother told her to tell him the truth. That she was married and then it is his choice if he accepts her or not. Priya then decides to write him a letter, telling him about her past life, she wrote it and gave it to Hari (Johnny Lever). Who misplaces everything. He misplaced the letter, and had someone write a new one. Later since Raj got the other letter where it didn't say anything but a poem. When he finds out she is married and leaves her. After Hari found the real note. He gave it to Raj and Raj read it. He falls in love with her again and decides to marry her. One day Vikram sees Priya's picture in the newspaper and finds out she is alive. He cancelled his ticket back to Goa and stayed at Shimla. In Shimla he started looking for Priya. He found out she was getting married and tried to kill Raj, but failed so he sent Raj to jail instead. Later he went to Priya's house and killed her friend, attempting to kill her as well.
