DAR (Aircraft)

A Designated Airworthiness Representative is a private person designated by the United States Federal Aviation Administration to act on its behalf in the inspection of amateur-built aircraft and the issuance of airworthiness certificates. The amateur-builder may contact the local FAA Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) or Manufacturing Inspection District Office (MIDO) for assistance.

DAR Aircraft (DAR AEROPLANES) The major Bulgarian Manufacturer of aircraft. Founded in 1912 in Sofia - Boujuriste. First aircraft was DAR-1 designed by prof. Herman Winter in 1925. Other his models are DAR-2, DAR-3 and DAR-4.The DAR-4 was a trimotor aircraft. After DAR Herman Winter work in Fieseler and create the aerodynamic of famous Fieseler Fi 156 Storch After Herman winter chief designer was prof. Cvetan Lazarov. DAR production continue with DAR-5, DAR-6, DAR-7cc, DAR-8, DAR-9 and DAR-10A till 1944. In 1995 a new company continue the tradition with project series DAR-11/13. But first is the all metal DAR-21. The DAR-21 was started in 2000 (wining award best product for 2000 in Republic of Bulgaria). Other models are DAR-21S, DAR-23 and DAR Speedster. Manager is eng Tony Ilieff. Chief designers are prof. Atanas Hasamsky and prof. Georgi Anestev.
