Daphne Marlatt

Daphne Marlatt, (née Buckle) (born July 11, 1942) OC, is a Canadian poet who lives in Vancouver, British Columbia. She was born in Melbourne, Australia. At a young age her family moved to Malaysia and at age nine they moved back to British Columbia, where she attended the University of British Columbia. There she developed her poetry style and her strong feminist views. Her poetry, while considered extremely dense and difficult, is also much acclaimed. In 2006, she was made a Member of the Order of Canada.
