[edit] List of contest entries

  1. Make mine the Medici bank. (See my draft here) -- Gwern (contribs) 14:33, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
    And it's mostly done. Last guaranteed version here (this was a from-scratch thing, so there is no "before" version), but I make no promises that I might not make some more edits. -- Gwern (contribs) 01:36, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
  2. I'll take fruit. – Quadell (talk) (bounties) 17:08, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
    And fruit is done! (before -> after) – Quadell (talk) (random) 19:22, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
  3. How about the Battle of Ceresole? (Before) Kirill Lokshin 17:17, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
    And done, I think. Kirill Lokshin 02:55, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
  4. What about the work I've recently done, and continue to do on Hippocrates? -- Rmrfstar 17:34, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
    It seems Danny won't accept work that I've already done on it. No matter, I'm still working on it. -- Rmrfstar 22:43, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
    I guess it's up to the judges if any of the work I did before the announcement should be counted. -- Rmrfstar 09:40, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
  5. I will be working on Sitting Bull (before: [1] -> ?)and Henry Duncan (before: [2] -> ?); I have been meaning to anyway. Lkinkade 12:13, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
    • Did not see changes to these two... ++Lar: t/c 02:13, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
  6. Let's give it up for Railroad engineer Bastiqe demandez 02:10, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
    (Before: [3] -> ? )
    • did not see changes to this one... ++Lar: t/c 02:13, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
    I'll take Johnny Unitas Jaranda wat's sup 02:47, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
    Remove Unitas for now, need to get a few books, how long this contest lasts? Jaranda wat's sup 02:07, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
    October 7th... ++Lar: t/c 09:03, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
  7. Can I enter twice? Do they stack? Anyway, I'm working on food too now. – Quadell (talk) (random) 03:37, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
    before -> after (so far)
    You can enter twice, sure. ++Lar: t/c 21:20, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
  8. I'm working on Boden Fortress (before: [4] -> ?). It should be noted that I have been working on the article for quite some time on a subpage of mine, but why not list it here and find out if it is accepted or not? To quote Bart Simpson, "you're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't"... – Elisson Talk 22:24, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
  9. I'll do House Un-American Activities Committee. Before version is here[5]. Durova 06:21, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
  10. I'm working on Edward the Elder. Before version here. User:Zoe|(talk) 20:06, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
  11. I usually work on American Revolutionary War and American Indian articles. For this contest, I've looked for the saddest, most ignored article that touches upon both of these topics. I think I've found it: Crawford expedition. Before version here. You wouldn't know it from this stub, but this was an important (and infamous) event on the western front in the American Revolutionary War, consisting of two battles and the subsequent execution of one of George Washington's close friends. Is this a qualified entry for the contest? —Kevin 14:44, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
    Given how many cleanup tags could be easily applied to that, I'd say that's a perfect entry. ;-) Kirill Lokshin 14:49, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
    Yeah, it's not quite ready for the main page. ;-) —Kevin 16:09, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
    Okay, Crawford expedition before, and after. Warning: unpleasant topic. —Kevin 22:16, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
  12. I may have disqualified myself on this one by doing a preliminary edit just before the contest started, and a few other people have edited it, but Theramenes is my entry if it's acceptable; if not, there's still time to do another one. --RobthTalk 01:27, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
    With the proviso that this is your before (it's the last edit of yours prior to contest start) it's fine. The article has improved a lot since then. If that's not acceptable, then ya, call that improvement a personal win and find a different article. The point of this contest is not winning (although that's a nice side benefit) it's to make articles better. Which you and everyone else already have, so yaay you guys. ++Lar: t/c 03:53, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
    This is my after version, then, and here is the diff. (Other people edited this too while it was on FAC, but the expansion and referencing are mostly me.)
  13. I've had a go at Imbrex and tegula: before. — Catherine\talk 07:14, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
    Unfortunately we have to take this as the before as it's the last edit before the contest start, per our guidelines... but the improvement in that article from your proposed before to there, is nothing short of amazing. Well done. ++Lar: t/c 21:20, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
  14. Not real likely to win, but I'm doing a little work expanding and improving some of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography's core biographies. So far added a little to Columba, Stephen Hawking, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and Mikhail Gorbachev, all basically biographical data. Badbilltucker 19:16, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
    I looked at these and I'm not sure which diffs represent the things you think are contest worthy... a lot of people did some great work over the run of this contest, making it confusing to decide. Do you have specific diffs for each article perhaps? Short of that I think I'd lean to thanking you and the rest of the authors but not considering these valid entries. ++Lar: t/c 21:53, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
  15. I've pretty much completely rewritten and expanded Colosseum, and added several new images. The previous version is [6]. -- ChrisO 15:35, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Comments

  • I'm tending to think that only work after posting the link or at the earlist, after the contest announcment, but will canvass the other judges... ++Lar: t/c 15:55, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
  • Providing a before/after link is very helpful! Thanks Quadell and I would encourage others to do so as well ++Lar: t/c 15:55, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
    • Put some in.. ++Lar: t/c 17:53, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
