[edit] USN ships on Lake Ontario - sources
Can you please provide a cite or link for the statement that "USS Chippawa" was launched as (or intended to be) a 130-gun monster. My source is Winton-Clare in Zaslow, The Defended Border, who is exasperatingly vague, but insists that one American ship was a 64-gun and the other a 44-gun. He makes no mention of any ship of similar size to the "USS New Orleans". HLGallon (talk) 22:32, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
As you may have noticed, I have been at the article again. I have left your changes in the table of ships in the main body of the article, but added a caveat in the footnotes, to allow for the discrepancies among the sources.HLGallon (talk) 13:58, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
