[edit] Gothic Metal List
I've been observing the debate about gothic-doom and gothic metal. I put a suggestion on the list of gothic metal bands to deal with it. Leyasu will probably fight the idea, but as an outside observer I think that it is a fair compromise. Tell me what you think. I would have put this message on Deathrocker's page, but he just ignores everything I say under the assumption that I am Leyasu.--Fred138 18:38, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Association
Dear Danteferno: Hi. I wanted to ask you about a possible Hispanic wikipedians association here on the English wikipedia. The purpose would be to trade assignments with members of other Hispanic countries, so that they would write about a topic pertaining to our country while we write about a topic pertaining to theirs. Like a trade. We would benefit a lot by learning about our history as a whole and having other Latinos learn about our own countries at the same time.
That way also, we would promote unity between our paises hermanos. We could become an example to Hispanics around the world. Unfortunately, some Hispanics do believe we are not brothers, and we can begin with our example to prove them wrong.
What do you think, would you be interested in joining such an association?
Thanks and God bless you!
Your hermano in raza, Antonio Tegucigalpa Martin
-
- Dear Dante: As a Hispanic, I feel honored that you have made several of our countries your home and thank you for that. I also want to thank you for your interest in the association. With only a few more votes of approval, it shall be opened. Your invitation to join the future association is still standing. With your travels, I imagine you have gained a lot of knowledge about the society, geography and topography of those countries you have visited and you probably can give us a lot of suggestions as far as topics so we can research those topics and write about them, and viceversa. Thanks so much and God bless you! Your friend, Antonio Planta de locos Martin.
[edit] Revert
The time between your two reverts was less than 24 hours. — 0918BRIAN • 2006-04-08 17:10
- People sometimes let 3RR slide simply because it happens a lot. Arbcom rulings do not happen a lot, and they should be correctly enforced. If you were to twice revert again, you would probably be blocked for 4 days, and then for 1 week, as has occurred with Leyasu. Once you realize that you are only satisfying your own instant gratification when you repeatedly revert, then you will realize that reverting makes little sense, because the current state of an article matters little. — 0918BRIAN • 2006-04-08 18:26
[edit] Assoc. link
Dante: We would be honored to have you check the Wikipedia:Association of Hispanic and Latin American writers and become one of our members.
Thanks and God bless you!

[edit] Nu metal & death metal
The point isn't whether nu-metal has similarities to death metal. The point is that the sentence at no point claims that Megadeth and Metallica are death metal. Therefore your removal of the genre was unjustified.
- it also has some sonic similarity with death metal as well as thrash metal bands like Metallica and Megadeth
if we separate the compound sentence we obtain
- it has some sonic similarity with death metal
- AND
- it also has some sonic similarity with thrash metal bands like Metallica and Megadeth
It clearly says "thrash bands like Metallica and Megadeth." I really don't care whether nu-metal has anything in common with death metal. Frankly I don't see the connection either. You misinterpreted the sentence and removed the term "death metal" because you thought it was incorrectly categorizing the two bands as said genre when in fact it wasn't.
- Pasajero 12:51, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re: How is nu-metal similar to death metal?
As this has been discussed already, I'll try to be simple:
- As the link shows, a citation has been made by WesleyDodds.
- Fear Factory are a death metal band often labelled as nu metal, and are a major influence on nu metal. Other death metal bands, such as Sepultura and Slayer, have been cited as influences on nu metal by nu metal bands or musical commentators.
- Static-X are a nu metal band often labelled as death metal.
- Korn cite Cannibal Corpse, a death metal band, as an influence.
- Apart from these links, the sonic similarity between guitar styles (if not musicianship) of nu metal and death metal is very prevalent.
This is not the first time you have tried to remove any mention of "death metal" from the nu metal article, and when one attempt is stopped, you convert to another reason to make the same edit. Your clear bias has no place in the article. --Switch 19:28, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

I've been away from the wiki for quite a while... would you mind explaining me the general situation concerning Leyasu? --Sn0wflake 02:46, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- Considering that one of the reasons I quit the Wikipedia was the stress that moderating this user caused me, I was really surprised he was still around... :\ Well, I am sort of back... and will enforce my admin rights as necessary. I see that it's still the same discussion concerning that "goth-doom" or whatever shit... really, what does that contribute to the articles in question...? But oh well. Thanks for the update, man. --Sn0wflake 03:56, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Whats the prob with the notability? They have released three albums of which two on a larger independent label (Displeased Records) should be sufficent per WP:MUSIC. Also they did small tours and played festivals, including the Doom Shall Rise festival in Germany, and Dutch Doom's day in the Netherlands. Spearhead
[edit] Leyasu
I agree, one of the reasons I stopped contributing to a lot of metal stuff was that I couldn't be arsed with Ley any more... If you notify me of specific incidents (starting from today onwards, let's not get into the backlog) with diffs I'll flex my admin muscles and get the necessary blocks and protects in place. - Actually, doesn't matter. If you notice pages that really need semi-protection, you can help me by a) providing diffs and b) listing the pages in one line of text using the following format: 'articlename1', 'articlename2', etc. eg if you felt Iron Maiden, Burzum and cheese needed protection, write 'Iron Maiden', 'Burzum', 'cheese' and drop it on my talk page and I'll check it out. [edit] protection
Agreed. They had been on the list around a month which is quite standard. I also added them to VOAbotII's watchlist which may or may not make a difference... I know some feel protection is against the spirit of Wikipedia, but banned users using multiple socks to deliberately skew facts is far worse. I've started blocking Ley-a-like accounts on sight. Long term? Not really sure. You'd have to find someone technical and well-versed in Wiki-law (more than me) with at least admin priveliges, probably checkuser priveliges. Not sure which general helpdesk might be able to help... You can also do whois lookups of IP addresses and contact the sysops at wherever they originate from. [edit] Protection
I've blocked a bunch of IP socks and protected Diabolique and Tiamat. Wknight94 seems to think that because there is only one problem editor on these pages and their edits are being reverted on sight (usually by you) there isn't a protection problem.. I think it's a failing of the system that a banned user can use a myriad of anonymous IPs and make life hard for regular editors. Keep me posted. Deizio talk 14:55, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- It is ridiculous to think there isn't a protection problem. The facts are really simple. The user has been banned from editing on wikipedia. Completely and utterly banned. Hence, this user should not be editing any further on wikipedia. It does not matter whether the edits made have any merits or not. It does not matter whether anyone express a problem with the edits being made. All that matters is that a banned user can continue editing a large number of different pages. It makes a mockery of the whole ban in the first place. What's the point of resolving disputes if people are only going to succeed in ignoring the resolution of those disputes? What's the point of banning people from editing wikipedia when they can so easily ignore and bypass that ban? --Anarchodin 05:34, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Cronodevir
Hello. I recently noticed a possible Leyasu sock and reported it at WP:SSP. I also noticed that you made a checkuser report which was inconclusive due to the age of Leyasu's edits. I'm asking if maybe you could make a comment at the report I made at WP:SSP to reinforce that I'm not the only user that has been suspicious of Cronodevir. --Wildnox(talk) 00:21, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Rottingchristlogo.JPG)
Thanks for uploading Image:Rottingchristlogo.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Rock music Wikiproject invitation
Hello WikiProject Metal member.
WikiProject Metal music is important in expanding encyclopedic coverage of the metal. It brings attention to the lesser-known bands, and significantly improves the quality of the famous ones. Five Featured articles and two formers is proof of that.
This is the stuff I wish to achieve with the somewhat recently resurrected WikiProject Rock music. I hope to also attract attention to rock music articles of all sorts, and hopefully change some to GA or FA status. I invite you to come join us, and embrace the links between metal and rock music in general.
Rock on.

[edit] Master
I guess you know little about death metal to question Master (US)'s notability. It is one of the first death metal bands. They released some 10 albums (plus Speckmann's (=Master) side projects about 15) and went on several tours. But yea the page can use some work and some references Spearhead 22:13, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- it has nothing to do with WP:CIVIL. A click on their official page could have easily revealed that many of their albums were released in Nuclear Blast (which is easily revealed, had you clicked on their linked album, on the seventh day.... Even ten+ albums by a quite forgettable label would make them notable per WP:BAND. You might to at least some research before you condemn. Spearhead 22:42, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
-
- maybe you ought to include the expand template instead to indicate your actual meaning. The page as it was, did easily establish their notability per WP:BAND. Anyway, I extended it a bit. Spearhead 23:02, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Hey Danteferno,
Please stop editing my bands page (Severed Savior). The bio which I wrote is NOT copywritten. I don't understand why you insist on putting incorrect information back up on that page. I think I know a little more about my own band's history than you, and copy/pasting a bio that I personally wrote would only be considered copywrite infringement If I complained about it. So please, just leave the page alone. If you want to verify who I am, feel free to message Severed Savior on myspace, or email me at Blaumph@hotmail.com (you can verify that address on www.severedsavior.com in the contacts page).
Thanks, -Mike

Thanks for uploading Image:Fotosleep3.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Skeletron.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Skeletron.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. [edit] AGM/alt metal dispute
You really need to chill out, my friend. No need to be agressive. I'm sorry if my removal offended you. But I didn't meant to attack you. Because I removed one of your edit doesn't mean I attacked you personnaly. So I fail to see what justifies your agressive tone in response. You disagree with my edit? Fine, just restore your edits and let's discuss, until we find an agreement. That's all...No need to be aggressive. that's one of the principles of wikipedia. Besides, ironically, we seem to think about the same concerning the alt bands included in this list...But the thing is we don't have the same solution to handle the situation. Personally I would either delete them, or (as I've done) preserve them temporarilly in the general list(until we find sources legitmate their removal). But I think it useless to create a specific section dedicated to alt metal bands when this article deals exclusively with AVANT-GARDE METAL.Frédérick Duhautpas (talk) 09:53, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
- "Let's not retort to double standards here: you removed my edit and called it POV. I then called your edit POV, and I am an "aggressor"? Teh."
-
- Why? you consider removing an edit and calling it a POV is an agression? Personnaly I don't. And I wasn't complaining of the fact you did the same. As already mentioned in my previous post, I was complaing of YOUR TONE only ...which I still find agressive and cuting, btw.
- I don't think that my attempts to keep objectivity in that article can be regarded as an act of aggression, no matter you might find my edits as injustified(which can possibly be). I didn't revert them just for the sake of attacking you or bothering you or something... I just did it out of concern for objectivity. So no need to overreact, you're not personnaly a target of mine. Don't mistake your person with your edits. Edits can be judged innapropriate but it doesn't mean that the person who made them is personnally put in question or attacked. Here's my point.
- Btw,I still think your view is a POV concerning Fantomas. Because Fantomas is widely recognized as an iconic avant-garde metal band. And I have sources about it. I still don't think I'm a agressor just because I qualify part of your view a POV. Frédérick Duhautpas (talk) 15:18, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:29, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] BDM Classification
I see no "consensus," rather, you seem to have been involved in a long and drawn out argument which yielded no results. However, you obviously feel quite strongly about the issue, and probably check the page daily, considering it a personal victory to have the "metalcore" label included, so I am not going to get involved in any sort of edit war. Consider the matter closed, at least from my perspective.Lokri (talk) 11:09, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Wrong again. You are right in that there were, in fact, editors who did take part in the conversation, but it seems their most potent contribution involved telling you that you were out of line and warning you to stop your revert/edit war. Throughout that whole thread of conversation, you brought truth to the maxim "It's not about who's right, its about who can be the loudest." You spammed with POV incessantly. And that qualifies as a consensus in your book, apparently.Lokri (talk) 18:44, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
