[edit] Welcome!

Hi there. Welcome to Wikipedia! I see that you have already started contributing to the encyclopedia. I hope you like it here and stick around. If you want, you can drop us a note at Wikipedia:New user log to introduce yourself.

Before you start doing a lot of editing, you might want to take the Tutorial. It gives a lot of basic info you'll want to get you oriented on Wikipedia.

You can sign your name on talk pages by using three tildes (" ~~~ ") for your username and four (" ~~~~ ") for your username and a timestamp.

If you ever find yourself bored with nothing to do, check out the community portal, there's always stuff happening there.

If you have any other questions about the project then check out Wikipedia:Help or add a question to the Help desk. You can also drop me a question on my talk page.

Happy editing! - Akamad 06:02, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Vanity Page

Hello and welcome to wikipedia. Akamad already gave you a lot of links so I won't trouble you with any. I'd just like to say though that one thing that wikipedia is not is a host for vanity pages (pages about yourself). Please feel free to create and edit pages that you are knowledgeable or want to research, and remember we are trying to build a high quality encyclopedia and articles should keep that in mind. [edit] Image:Bradlesindanburyct.jpg listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded, Image:Bradlesindanburyct.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:N44601271_2043.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:N44601271_2043.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see User talk:Carnildo/images. 11:04, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Daniel Fife may not be sufficiently well-known to merit articles of their own. The Wikipedia community welcomes newcomers, and encourages them to become Wikipedians. On Wikipedia, all users are entitled to a user page in which they can describe themselves, and this article's content may be incorporated into that page. However, to merit inclusion in the encyclopedia proper, a subject must be notable. We encourage you to write or improve articles on notable subjects. Djcartwright 21:58, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edit summaries

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. Powers T 14:37, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages. The notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of an article, and removing them is considered vandalism. If you oppose the deletion of an article, you may comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. Dakota 06:57, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Please do not remove content from Wikipedia, as you did to Stingray. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Misza13 21:52, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion processes on Wikipedia

Hi -- if you'd like to nominate pages for deletion, you may learn how to do so at pages such as Wikipedia:Deletion policy, WP:AFD, or WP:PROD. Just putting the respective header or other related text on the page isn't the right way, FYI. Thanks -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 00:33, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure exactly what you're after, but please stop, and consider either WP:DELETE or WP:PROTECT for quick reading material. Luna Santin 00:37, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

"Please stop" as in "you're going to be blocked if you don't." Luna Santin 00:38, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

In addition to the above, please read WP:CSD. Things aren't deletable just because you apparently don't like them. It would be in your best interests to slow down now. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 00:42, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

It is important to keep a cool head, especially when responding to comments against you or your edits. Personal attacks and disruptive comments only escalate a situation; please keep calm and remember that action can be taken against other parties if necessary. Attacking another user back can only satisfy trolls or anger contributors and leads to general bad feeling. Please try to remain civil with your comments. Thanks! -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 00:44, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Please stop adding bogus CSD tags. Luna Santin 00:50, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Your change to the page The Land Before Time was determined to be unhelpful and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. If you feel that the edit I reverted should not have been reverted, please contact me. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 01:06, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, as you did to The Land Before Time, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. If you feel that the edit I reverted should not have been reverted, please contact me. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 01:12, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

As much as I can sympathize with your loss, please recognize and understand that this is not a productive way to explore or express your feelings. Wikipedia is a community resource, and I will do what I have to in order to protect its continued functioning. This is your final warning. Luna Santin 01:13, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

  4. Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits are considered vandalism. If you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the work of others. Thank you. Yamaguchi先生 07:20, 9 November 2006
  5. Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Yamaguchi先生 07:28, 9 November 2006
  6. This is your last warning.
The next time you vandalize a page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Yamaguchi先生 07:29, 9 November 2006

Request reason: "I am sorry for what I did, I justed hated how the movie reminded me of something that happened in the family, I will not do it again!"

Decline reason: "Given your contribution history, I can find no grounds to believe this. — Yamla 02:42, 19 March 2007 (UTC)"

Request reason: "I am still sorry for what I did and I will not do what I did again, how do I make you all believe me?"

Decline reason: "Anyone can just say "sorry" and not mean it at all -- that's why we'll only believe you when you demonstrate some positive editing. Find any preexisting article, copy it and paste it here and then improve it significantly. Then re-request unblocking. If an editor is impressed with your proposed improvements, then we'll unblock you. --  Netsnipe  ►  04:48, 25 March 2007 (UTC)"
