Dictionary of Chemicals

Thanks for polishing that off, I wasn't sure what to do about it. A new category works perfectly, and now the extra mege articles wont get lost either. -Ravedave 00:00, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

I second that, good job. Garion96 (talk) 00:05, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

Earls

Please see my comments on the talk page of the Earls of England category. I am going to nominate the two subcategories for merging back into the main category. Carina22 08:34, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

Steak and Blowjob Day

My adding that to March 15 was not vandalism. It is a well-known--albeit recently created (last five years or so)--humorous holiday. The problem is that (a) it's actually March 14; I made a mistake and put it on the day, and (b) the article is at Steak and Blowjob Day--no 'a'. Both of which I was going to fix as soon as I realized that, but you beat me to the punch.

Moral: Don't call something vandalism just because you don't know what it is. Kurt Weber 02:46, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Part 2

Well, like I said, I put it on the wrong date anyway; the correct date is March 14, and it's already there. No hard feelings. Stuff like this happens. Kurt Weber 02:54, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Talk:Democratic transhumanism

I don't think theere are enough people openly identifying themselves as democratic transhumanists to be create a section called People active in movement or People associated with movement. However, if this changes a better title would be List of prominent democratic transhumanists --Loremaster 23:11, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

I understand your position and am inclined to agree. I personally don't feel that this individual person should be identified on this page at all. However, I have been told that his name is continually readded, so I just wanted to get him out of the beginning portion of the article. --Danaman5 23:16, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
I was the one who re-added this individual's name on some occasions. From what I am told, he works closely with James Hughes and is probably the only person, other than Hughes, who publicly identifies himself as a democratic transhumanist. Why don't you feel he should be identified on this page at all? --Loremaster 16:13, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Also, I apologize for seeming to work against your reverts of my edits a moment ago. We simply happened to be editing at the same time. --Danaman5 23:16, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Actually, now that I think about it, there are a few people who consider themselves democratic transhumanists. I will re-add this section with a new title. --Loremaster 16:13, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

WP:ARCHIVES

Hi again! Given the opinion you gave at the request for comment on archives I thought you might be interested to know the issue has now been put to a straw poll and could use your vote! Staxringold 00:45, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Alpha Phi Alpha

I will look at breaking up the section. I was trying to not to make the TOC so long that a reader would have to scroll down to view the article. I do appreciate your thoughts, and please review again to see if you like the break up of the section. thanks Ccson 17:02, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure which quote you're referring to as the two quotes in the Pledging section address the organizations object to hazing within the pledge program. can you be more specific? Perhaps provide the firts 5 sentences of the quote, and what section you think it should be located within. The quote within the section Membership "The chief significance of . . ." belongs in this section. It's to highlight the fact that the names contained within this section have been trained, stimulated, etc. because of Alpha Phi Alpha. Thanks for your support!! Ccson 18:09, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

I may have to add some more text to the paragraph so that it extends at least to the end of the quote box. thanks again for the quick feedback. Ccson 20:15, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

hey

I am actually a senior in HS but will attend U of C next year. I plan on staying either at the Burton-judson or the Max Palevsky dorms, but most likely the latter. It depends on where they decide to place me, really. I hope to major in bio-chem while there and some type of minor degree in history if possible. What about you? are you currently a student there? Where did you live previously? Matt 03:32, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. U of C will definitely be a hell of a transition from what I have to endure in high school. I just hope that I will actually be able to handle it. well, I really hope that I'll have a chance to meet you next year. until then, take care Matt 03:54, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Highway's RfA

Request for Adminship
Thank you for supporting/objecting/tropicanising me in my request for Adminship. Although I wasn't promoted to admin status, with a final vote count of 14/27/12, I am very happy with the response I received from my fellow Wikipedians. I was pleasantly suprised at the support, and was touched by it. I will also work harder on preventing disputes and boosting my edit count (which is on the up), so thank you to all your objectors. Hopefully I will re-apply soon and try again for the mop. Thanks again, Highway Rainbow Sneakers

Ellen Pompeo

I could have been clearer about why I tagged the page for {{off-topic}}, but if you'll notice, the article includes a series of statements about the influence of one Andrew Rosenthal on the actress's career which seem to be unverifiable. That the article dwelt upon this influence seemed to me an off-topic digression. Jonathan F 05:09, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Hello

I noticed that you recently cast your vote on the Wikipedia:Communities strawpoll. I know that you seemed to have some problems with just naming communities based on "community" than I have a good proposal. How about Community (City, State). It allows the people who just want "community" to have that text out side the parenthasis, but also allows to make distinctions between Chinatowns of different cities inside the parenthasis. Do you think it is a good choice? Ericsaindon2 04:29, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Long-Overdue RfA Thanks from Alphachimp

Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which was successful with a an overwhelmingly flattering and deeply humbling total of 138/2/2 (putting me #10 on the RfA WP:100). I guess infinite monkey theorem has been officially proven. Chimps really can get somewhere on Wikipedia.

With new buttons come great responsibility, and I'll try my best to live up to your expectations. The same goes for any complaints or comments in regard to my administrative actions. Remember, I'm here for you.

Re: Template:Warlord era

To consult other editors look at the history of the template page. What you have proposed seems ok. I like things as they are but I have a big flat screen monitor. Asiaticus 07:02, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

hello, I think the proposal looks good. Perhaps we can also add the factions (just the names) to the events template and use that as the main warlords template. BlueShirts 05:56, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

The template needs some formatting & improvement (like taking off some links that will probably never be created), but I don't think it's necessary to divde it into sections. (See {{Cold_War}}) AQu01rius (User • Talk) 04:29, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
What links are you talking about eliminating?Asiaticus 19:20, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

After looking through some related templates, it seems that there is a precedent for templates of this size. I still think it is ridiculous, but the precedent is there. I would support the idea of condensing some of the links. I will start another mockup and attempt it as soon as we can get some consensus on which to eliminate. --Danaman5 21:03, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

I think BlueShirts' suggestion is do-able. I also think that turning this template into a show/hide sidebar may also help. The template is now indeed growing way too long. AQu01rius (User • Talk) 21:19, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
I am splitting the template per BlueShirts' suggestion. I'm going to start individual list for the factions. AQu01rius (User • Talk) 03:43, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Xuanzang

Dear Danman - thank you for your prompt reply. Yes, Xuanzang was (and is still) very influential both inside and outside China. His accounts are are our very best and most detailed historical records of northern India and much of Central Asia during the 7th century. He plays a role rather like that of Marco Polo in many ways - but, with additional importance to the history and development of Buddhism. Historians constantly refer to his writings as they are filled with all sorts of acute and accurate observations (with the rider, of course, as was natural for a person in his position at that time, to be rather credulous when it came to Buddhist stories, miracles, and the like). He also was befriended by a number of important monarchs and left the best records we have of their courts and, similarly, with the great Buddhist universities of the time such as Nalanda in India. I, myself, would rate him as amongst the greatest travel writers and recorders of historical information of all time (and I don't think I am overstating the case). Cheers, John Hill 07:22, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

WPCHINA for script

Hi - I've added the template to the script. The script presently has no way to deal with project templates that may have two names; I noticed this project has "WikiProject China" and "WPCHINA". I chose the former. If you tried to assess an article that already had a WPCHINA template, you'd get a new template below it for WikiProject China. Which name is most used? I'm sure the issue can be programmed around eventually. (Also, you may want to set // defaultProject = "WikiProject China"; // in your monobook.js.)

Now to your question... which extended parameters do you want to include? I included the basic class and importance. I don't know how feasible it will be to add unique parameters for all the projects out there. I did it for Bio and MilHist because they're big. There's also a difference between allowing you to select a value for the parameter on the article page, and including it in the template with a blank value. The latter is easy enough, if you just want me to include the whole template as shown at Template:WikiProject China#Usage. –Outriggr § 06:23, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

help wanted

I need your help. I am a new member of wikipeida. I find the article of "Tibet" or "history of tibet" in wikipeida is very biased towards pro-independent Tibetans. I have strong evidence to prove what I said. I made some edit and added some important facts. However, they are deleted. The problem is: I am not familiar with the rules of wikipeida and I probable won't have time to get familiar with it. So, I need your help so that truth can be known by people. You can find my deleted versions in the history of that topic. The main source of my information is in the following. It would be better if you can have a quick look of this website and add whatever information you want. I remember the content of this website is from Chinese government’s white paper on Tibet issue. If you go to the official website of Tibetan in exiles, you will find that although they are very unhappy with these information. They could not point out any major problems about these facts.

"The historical status of tibet", by China internet information center. It cab be found at the website of:

www.china.org.cn/ch-xizang/tibet/historical_status/english/index.html

www.china.org.cn/ch-xizang/tibet/indexE.html

This is probably the most complete and detailed information source on the Tibet issue.

Many thanks.

Beijing opera

Amazing work. I can tell your improvements right away (the expansion of several sections). As of your specific concerns:

  • I think reference #36 is reliable enough. Tyfo.com is fairly significant in Chinese community, and china.tyfo.com is presented in English. Other users may disagree though, but it's no big deal.
  • Yes the structure works perfect. Visual presentation is the key element of performance in not just Chinese operas, but all operas across the globe. Good change!

I have no further comments. Feel free to submit it to WP:GA. I would encourage you to take a step ahead and submit it to WP:FAC to see what others have to say on this article's quality on becoming featured. AQu01rius (User • Talk) 05:38, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Don't worry about images. If someone have problem with it, you can then remove it. But you're right, there should only be one image in the lead section, and the male performer one have detailed copyright information. AQu01rius (User • Talk) 00:14, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

I'm about to start the article for this theatre, but I suspect there's a lot more sources in Chinese I cannot read.
