Perfect Dark is an action video game, developed by Rare, and published by Nintendo. It was released for the Game Boy Color video game console on 01 August 2000. The game is played from a top-down perspective, with first-person elements.

[edit] Synopsis

Template:Spoiler

Perfect Dark is set in the year 2022, between the events of Perfect Dark Zero and Perfect Dark (Nintendo 64), during the final stages of Joanna Dark's training as an agent for Carrington Institute. As part of a training mission, Joanna is sent to a South American jungle to destroy an illegal cyborg-manufacturing facility. During the mission, she uncovers a conspiracy involving dataDyne Corporation. (The game's instruction manual suggests that this is Joanna's first encounter with dataDyne; however, this is contradicted by Perfect Dark Zero, the novels and the comics.)

[edit] Gameplay

Like the other games in the series, Perfect Dark features stealth elements: walking allows the player to sneak around enemies or catch them by surprise; running attracts the attention of nearby enemies.

The weapons available to the player include a pistol, several machine guns, a shotgun, a rocket launcher, and a powerful alien weapon that recharges over time. Ammunition for these weapons, along with medical kits to restore health, can be found around the levels or on the bodies of dead enemies.

[edit] Single-player

Perfect Dark features several different single-player modes, each with different gameplay.

Top-Down View
This is the main play mode, which links the other play modes together and progresses the story. The player must sneak past or kill enemies from a top-down perspective.
Target Range
The player must shoot targets from a first-person perspective. Missing more than five targets or shooting a "civilian" target results in failure.
Door Control
The player must memorise and repeat a sequence of four flashing lights. Each of the lights has a unique colour and sound. Three mistakes results in failure.
River Crossing
Jungle Chase
Hind Attack
Sniper Mode
The player must kill enemies from a first-person perspective, without triggering the alarm. Allowing an enemy to notice the death of another enemy results in failure.
Attack Cyborg
Mink Hunter
Octopus Prime
Escape
The player must avoid enemy gunfire by steering an Orca 1 dropship.

[edit] Multiplayer

Perfect Dark features competitive multiplayer for two players. Multiplayer requires a Universal Game Link cable, a Game Boy Color for each player, and a Perfect Dark cartridge for each player.

Factory Fight
