Daniel Cohen (Born in 1984) Israeli Conductor and Violinist


Chief conductor of the Jersey Chamber Orchestra and Music Director of the Eden Chamber Orchestra, London and the Gropius Ensemble, Israel.

In 2007 Daniel completed his Postgraduate Conducting Studies at the Royal Academy of Music. Among his teachers were George Hurst, Colin Metters and Sir Colin Davies

Since his debut at the age of 19 Daniel have conducted such orchestras as the Kammerphilharmonie Graz, the King's College London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra and the Ashover Festival Symphony Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 2007 Daniel won the first prize in the Admont International Conducting Competition in Austria and in 2008 won the first prize in the Aviv Competition in Israel (the Uri Aronowich prize).

Daniel was invited to assist Daniel Barenboim in a concert of the Staatskapelle Akademie Berlin in March 2008. He also assisted Yan Pascal Tortelier with the Royal Academy of Music’s Symphony Orchestra.

As a violinist Daniel has performed as a soloist with various orchestras including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Israeli Chamber Orchestra and the Haifa Symphony Orchestra and is a member of Daniel Barenboim's West-Eastern Divan Orchestra.
