[edit] Notability

42 years as political prisoner - some record Bobanni (talk) 08:04, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Definitely not a speedy deletion candidate, per these news articles. Probably not a regular deletion candidate, either. Zagalejo^^^ 08:24, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sources

This is a fascinating bio but the article needs work. Can we get refs to the sources used by author instead of googling around? TIA, --Irpen 08:55, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Historic info

I somewhat NPOVed the article and removed some of the info which is more of the general history than directly relevant to D. Sh. Perhaps more general history can me removed. The logic is that we have dedicated articles for such events and trying to retell complex histories in 1-2 sentences rather that link to the appropriate articles is usually a bad idea since a two-sentence summary of the nuanced, complex and controversial events would always give an account that is sloppy at best and often even misleading. But sources first. TIA, --Irpen 08:55, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] shtrafbat

It is highly unlikely that he served in the "disciplinary battalion", as the article used to say. Only mid- to senior (by rank) commanding officers were sent to shtrafbat (penal battalion), while the lower ranking ones were sent to penal companies (shtrafrota). I corrected for a more general term penal military unit until we get refs. --Irpen 09:09, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Prava Lyudyny ref

Thanks for the ref. It is very useful but we should be careful using it. Facts are OK but not judgments since the source is obviously not written by the scholar. The "Disciplinary Battalion" is one of the obvious goofs. It also generously uses the strongly loaded terms and we should be careful to stick with facts and not pass judgments. --Irpen 01:54, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Edit conflict

I apologize for the loss of useful changes due to an edit conflict glitch. Corrected. Now, let's discuss it in a friendly way but I am still curious how Molobo got to this article. --Irpen 04:47, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Something wrong

The main ref says that he moved to Canada in 1987. However, the bibliographic data of his book says it was published there in 1984. --Irpen 05:07, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

OK, figured it out. He moved to Canada indeed in 1987 but his book was translated and published in Toronto earlier (1984) in his absence. --Irpen 05:12, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Headings

Balanced headings to indicate which government and/or political system was in-place at that time in history.Bobanni (talk) 00:29, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
