He was a theoretical physicist, working on the field of granular flow. Okay, he didn't get the Nobel Price and people outside the world of physicics maybe forgot him (one year he was popular with this popcorn story), but a physicist who was editor of 2 sciencistic newsletters couldn't be irrelevant.
