[edit] Duplication: Two articles about the same DANG! I propose merger
These two articles is about the same district of Dang:
- Dang, Nepal, a Southern District in Rapti Zone.
- Dang Deokhuri District Nepal. Same as the above, duplication.
I propose that this article be merged into the Dang Deokhuri District article. As the second article is a part of a 75-article system about districts in Nepal. This one hangs loose, and has been criticized, too.

It's almost the same dang thing! "Dang" is the official district name. "Dang-Deukhuri" is a more cultural and geographical term for the two inner-terai valleys that make up most of the district yet extend west into Banke district of Bheri zone.
If two articles are maintained, deciding what belongs in one or the other -- and defending such choices -- could be messy. For example, do local ramifications of the 1996-2006 Civil War belong under "Dang" because of their political nature, or under "Dang-Deukhuri" because grievances of Tharus living in the two valleys were important and because tactics and strategy may have been influenced by the the distinctive terrain?
My vote would be for a merged articles, with redirection from "Deukhuri" and "Dang-Deukhuri" plus some text about these terms, but I hope Nepalis will have their say. If even one Tharu could weigh in, it would really make my day! 76.80.26.121 17:02, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Dang is the common name for the district. Dang-Deukhuri is the long name and is usually used only for formal purposes. From what I know, this has nothing to do with Tharus or the war.
Deukhuri is also a valley. The Dang and Deukhuri valleys are parallel, with Dang further north. They are separated by a branch of the Siwalik range, while another branch of the Siwaliks separates Deukhuri from the Gangeatic Plain.
Dang-Deukhuri is the official name, it is often called Dang for brevity. These two wiki articles need to be merged. I can cite various official government publications circa 1990 that use the name Dang-Deukhuri. I will also work on uploading photos of both valleys. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.237.155.145 (talk) 04:52, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
