Dantès Dailiang (戴亮)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Christophe HISQUIN (also known as Dantès, or Dailiang 戴亮 in mandarin chinese) is a French singer-songwriter. His trilingual official website (www.dantesdailiang.com) makes three inconsistent claims. In English it claims he is "the first foreigner who writes and sings his own songs in Mandarin Chinese". In French it claims he is the "first French singer to write and translate in Mandarin Chinese" (le premier chanteur français qui écrit et interprète en chinois mandarin). In Chinese the website makes the even bolder claim that he is the "only foreigner to write songs completely in Chinese" (唯一全部用中文写歌的外国人). None of these claims are supported. In 2006 he released a double album in China entitled Parfums d’Extrêmes.
Dantès is an intercultural artist who intertwines Chinese language, the French way of thinking and pop rock. The Chinese media readily welcomed the professional sinologist[citation needed] (Master in Cultural Identities, dissertation The Production of Pop rock Music at the end of the XXth century in China[citation needed], Jean-Moulin University Lyon 3, PhD, subject: The Music Industry in China at the beginning of the XXIst Century, Jean-Moulin University Lyon 3)[citation needed]. Dantès' LP, One of a Kind, allowed the French singer to be invited several times to the most prestigious and popular TV shows in China[citation needed]. In 2006, Dantès performed at the French Alliance of Shanghai[citation needed]; a success confirming the quality of his musical and cultural innovation[citation needed]. In January and February 2007, Dantès was invited by the CCTV3 and the CCTV4 to perform his songs[citation needed]. In April and May 2007, various press conferences were organized for Dantès in Suzhou and Hangzhou[citation needed], and the artist was even mentioned during the television news[citation needed]. Numerous specialized or non-specialized magazines, independent or not have written about Dantès. Furthermore, in March 2007, well-known radio programs in Shanghai (Love Radio)[note: Love Radio is a radio station (103.7FM), not a program][citation needed], Suzhou, Hangzhou and the French Radio of Beijing (RCI) organized long interviews (over an hour each) of Dantès[citation needed].
