Danny Thomas (musician)

Danny Thomas, born in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, was the second drummer for the 13th Floor Elevators. Danny played drums and sang back up vocals on the final two studio albums, Easter Everywhere and Bull of the Woods. In an interview in 2001, when Danny was asked when he had quit the band, his reply was "I never quit".

Danny owned his own delivery company called Gophers Inc. Prior to this he worked at Carolinas Medical Center (formerly Charlotte Memorial Hospital). He is now retired, but still enjoys many hobbies including buying and selling antiques and growing vegetables.

He lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with his wife, Juanette. He has two grown daughters, Christina and Tiffany, and a son, Jason Brock. Danny is a vegetarian and humanitarian.

He plays piano, as well as drums, and worked with Arthur Smith's recording studio and Lightnin' Hopkins. His last musical endeavor was called Bessie Mae's Dream, founded in Charlotte in 1996 with singer/guitarist Jerry Shaver and guitarist Marcus Cheek, which he left in 1998.
