Danny Kelly (soccer)

Danny Kelly (born March 7, 1969) is a former midfielder and now the head coach of the Baltimore Blast soccer team.
Kelly played college soccer at Penn State University in State College, Pennsylvania. While at Penn State he was a four-year letter winner from 1987 to 1990. He earned national recognition and honors during his college career. He still holds many Penn State records, including one for single season assists. Kelly went on to play professional soccer for the Harrisburg Heat (1991-1997) of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL). Danny Kelly started his professional indoor soccer career with the Harrisburg Heat during the 1991-92 season. After six seasons with the Heat he joined the Blast prior to the 1998-99 season. In eight seasons in Baltimore he has compiled more than 200 points and still ranks sixth on the team’s all-time scoring list. A three-time League All-Star, Kelly represented the Blast in the 2006 MISL All-Star Game and leads the team’s defenders this season in points. He also ranks 20th on the League’s all-time scoring list. Danny played for expansion team Hershey Wildcats (1997-2000) of the United Soccer Leagues A-League which changed its name to the USL 1st division. The team is now defunct.
