[edit] Biography

Jones grew up in Bolton and kept two police dogs as pets, and reports his main musical influences to be Bruce Springsteen, The Who and Bob Dylan.[2] He is known to support football club Bolton Wanderers.[3] He was raised Catholic and wrote the song for McFly "Not Alone" showing how God has always been with him, he shows this by normally wearing a metal cross around his neck.[citation needed]

[edit] McFly

McFly rose to fame in 2004, this was heavily influenced by their association with former band Busted who helped launch them by offering them the position of support act in their 2004 tour.[4] Jones met Tom Fletcher after an audition for V however it was at the auditions that he was approached by Fletcher and their later manager Matt Fletcher (commonly known as Fletch). The two conversed and found they had common interests and so began writing together.[5] Eventually they moved into the InterContinental Hotel in London for two months, which they used to concentrate on writing their debut album Room on the 3rd Floor, helped by then-Busted guitarist James Bourne.[6]

Jones has co-written all three of McFly's studio albums with his fellow band members. He also penned three of his own tracks, one on each McFly album- Not alone, Dont know why and Walk in the sun.[7][8][9] Jones also often takes the role of lead guitarist in most performances, with Fletcher acting as rhythm guitar, and can be seen performing solos in songs such as That Girl,Transylvania and I Wanna Hold You. Danny Jones is left handed but plays his guitar right handed.

Jones appeared with the rest of McFly in the teen comedy film Just My Luck, which starred Lindsay Lohan. The movie was first shown in cinemas in the United States on May 12, 2006, and the United Kingdom on June 30, 2006[10], but was critically panned. Jones has also appeared with McFly on episodes of Casualty and Doctor Who, as well as numerous music-related shows.[11] Danny has also made a solo appearance in Never Mind The Buzzcocks in late 2007 and has also taken part in a Tsunami football match for charity in March 2005 but none of the other members were present.
