[edit] Fran's Boyfriend

Danny Imperiali was a High School classmate of Fran Fine, and a classmate of her arch-rival, Heather Biblow. He also lived in Flushing, Queens. Danny was Fran's first serious love interest and while she was in her mid-twenties, they got pre-engaged. Fran and her parents dreamed of the day that Danny would propose to Fran, but after three years of pre-engagement, that had yet to happen. Through the course of these three years, Danny owned a bridal shop in Flushing, and Fran was his top salesgirl. High School classmate Val Toriello was also among his employees. One average day on the job in 1993, Fran asked Danny why after three years of pre-engagement he had not yet proposed. He finally prepared to propose to Fran right then and there, or so it seemed. Much to Fran's shock, Danny told her that it was time that they broke up because until this period, Danny had secretly been seeing Heather Biblow. Heather also needed a job, so he fired Fran and gave the job to Heather. Infuriated at this event and her worthless pre-engagement, Fran quit the bridal shop. Danny's actions were the catalyst for the entire series, for Fran started working for Broadway producer Maxwell Sheffield as his nanny shortly afterwards.

Danny continued to date Heather after firing Fran, but broke up with her afterwards for unspecified reasons. Danny decided to hook up with Fran again, insisting that he still wanted her. Fran took this opportunity to dump him as revenge for dumping her, but Danny insisted he was sorry and finally did propose to her before she could finish. Fran was still very angry at Danny, but through some heavy-duty schmoozing, she warmed up to him. Fran eventually decided to marry Danny, but the Sheffields were sad to see her go. Fran was very unsure about her decision, for she had grown too attached to Maggie, Brighton, and Grace. C.C. was the only one who openly supported her marriage in the Sheffield home, for all of the obvious reasons. On the day that Fran moved out, the Sheffields expressed the full extent of their sadness to Fran, and Fran realized that she didn't want to leave. Danny tried to convince her to come back to him, but she let him down gently. With that, Fran's engagement to Danny ended for good. Danny would get back together with Heather sometime later and would eventually marry her.

Fran would tell a lot of jokes about Danny and reminisce on her engagement to him while talking with Niles and the children. One of the most notable things about Danny was his back hair problem. He would get backwaxes on a regular basis, and this problem was the butt of many of Fran's jokes. Fran may have still had some feelings for Danny since they were together for a long time, but she never rebuilt her romantic relationship with Danny.

About four years after he fired Fran, Danny suddenly died in Queens, leaving behind his wife Heather. Fran was traumatized when she got the news, and Val reveals at the funeral that Danny, quite hilariously, died from an allergic reaction to a brand of backwax! However, Fran quickly learned to move on, especially since the romantic tension between herself and Maxwell was getting more obvious. Heather also moved on, and even tried to steal Fran's job as Maxwell's nanny. However, on that front, Fran had the upper hand, and defeated Heather. (The only one who disapproved of Heather being fired was Brighton, who cried) Fran would eventually marry Maxwell before the series ended.
