Dannion Brinkley
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dannion Brinkley is a near-death experiencer from South Carolina. He has now been declared dead 3 times.
Struck by lightning on September 17, 1975 while on a telephone as a thunderstorm approached, Brinkley claims he was clinically dead for 28 minutes and taken to a hospital morgue.
Brinkley described many characteristic details of the NDE as well as certain unique ones. His account includes an out-of-body experience upon exit with extensive external observations, a tunnel passage, a meeting with a Being of Light (in other narratives identified by some as Jesus), a high-speed detailed life review discussion of a life mission, and a strong reluctance to return. In addition he describes a flight to a place with a church-like structure and revelations regarding future events, allegedly including the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and the first Persian Gulf War.
Brinkley's case was one of many studied in depth by NDE researcher Raymond Moody. While his recovery was initially slow, Brinkley now makes public talks about his experience, which he detailed in a book titled Saved by the Light (co-authored by Paul Perry). His most recent book, co-authored by his wife, Kathryn Peters-Brinkley is entitled, The Secrets of the Light: Spiritual Strategies to Empower Your Life Here...and in the Hereafter. He has made numerous appearances on the Coast to Coast AM radio show.
Brinkley is a co-founder of The Twilight Brigade, a national non-profit organization of over 5,000 volunteers dedicated to being at the bedside of those in transition from this world to the next. He has personally accrued more than 23,000 hours at the bedside.
