Career highlights

Daniel Wells (born March 2, 1985) is an Australian rules footballer for the Kangaroos Football Club of the Australian Football League.

Wells made his debut in 2003 and rose to prominence in 2004 when, against Fremantle, he kicked the AFL Goal of the Year, jumping and taking the ball from ruck contest in the goal square and kicking the goal before he landed.

Wells was selected in the Australian team for the 2005 International Rules Series but was unable to play due to injury.

He had a fairly good year in which he finished 2nd in the Syd Barker Medal.

On October 14, 2006 Wells married school teacher Mariangela Laudato.

Much critisism has followed Wells due to consistent media attention and somewhat erratic performances. He is renowned for tormenting North Melbourne supporters with a "below par" performance one week, and supplying a titanic performance the next. As a result of his well publicised potential, when the ball falls into his grasp many AFL commentators have been heard to call "dip into the well, Wellsy".

In 2008, the Australian Rules footballer has thus far averaged 18.6 possessions per game.
