Daniel Lucius Vasella MD (born 1953) is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis AG. He is married and has three children.
The Time Magazine included Vasella in its list of 100 most influential people of 2004.
He completed the Program for Management Development (PMD) at Harvard Business School in 1989.
He is the author of a book, co-written with Robert Slater titled "Magic Cancer Bullet" where he tells the story of how Gleevec came to be - which is a successful cancer drug representing the fruits of rational drug-design.
