Daniel Peter

Daniel Peter (1836-1919) was a famous Swiss chocolatier. He began his career as a candle maker, but soon demand fell due to the emergence of oil lamps. He invented the process of making milk chocolate in 1857[1]. He had a problem with removing the water from the milk (which caused mildewing) and with the cooperation of Henri Nestlé, a baby food manufacturer, he was able to finally bring the product into the market in 1875, after seven years of working on it. Later, in 1879, the two went on to form the Nestlé Company.
