Daniel Morkeberg

Daniel J. Morkeberg (born Denmark) was a politician and dairy farmer from Alberta, Canada.

[edit] Early life

Morkeberg was born and raised in Denmark. He moved to western Canada in 1898. After moving to Alberta he became a pioneer in the development of the dairy industry in the province. He was a leader in the movement to unionize dairymen and served as the first president of the Alberta Dairyman's Association in 1919.[1]

Morkeberg was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in the 1917 Alberta general election. He defeated incumbent Fred Archer to win the Innisfail electoral district for the Liberals. Morkeberg served a single term in the Legislature, he was defeated in the 1921 Alberta general election by Donald Cameron running under the United Farmers of Alberta banner.[2]

In 1959 Moreberg was elected to the Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame.[1]
