Daniel Gastón Montenegro (born March 28, 1979, in the Capital Federal district of Buenos Aires) is an Argentine footballer, who currently plays for Club Atlético Independiente of the Primera Division Argentina.

Montenegro began his career at Club Atlético Huracán in 1997; since then he has played for several teams in Argentina, France, Spain and Russia. He represented Olympique de Marseille in France in 2000, Real Zaragoza and CA Osasuna in Spain, and FC Saturn Moscow Oblast in Russia.

In Argentina he had 2 spells with Huracán and another two with River Plate, and joined Independiente in 2006 for a third time.

Montenegro also holds an Italian passport. He is the younger brother of Ariel Alfredo Montenegro.

Montenegro represented the Argentina Under-20 team at the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship, and made his full international debut against Chile, on April 18, 2007.
