[edit] Career

His previous clubs include Newcastle United Jets and Universitatea Craiova. He walked out on the club in 2004 after they refused to honour his contractual obligations.[1] He signed for Falkirk after receiving international clearance in September 2004.[2] He signed a new one-year deal with the club in June 2005.[3]

He signed for Scunthorpe United on a two-year deal in August 2006.[4] At the end of the 2006–07 season McBreen was told by Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins that he was free to look for a deal with another club, despite having a year remaining on his contract.[5] He joined York City on a month's loan, with the option of a possible extension, in October 2007.[6] He was recalled from his loan spell by Scunthorpe on 5 November 2007 due to the departure of on-loan Millwall player Ben May.[7]

He joined St. Johnstone in January 2008 until at least the end of the season. It is a permanent deal — not a loan, as previously thought.[8] On 20 April 2008, McBreen scored the opening goal in St. Johnstone's Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers at Hampden Park, on his debut in the competition. He was released by the club at the end of the 2007–08 season.[9] He was later handed a trial with A-League side Wellington Phoenix.[10]
