Daniel Duane Tompkins Farnsworth was born December 23, 1819 in Staten Island, New York. At the age of two, his family relocated to Buckhannon, WV in Upshur County. He was West Virginia State Senate President in 1869 when Governor Arthur I. Boreman ascended to the US Senate. He served as Governor of West Virginia for seven days: February 26, 1869 - March 4, 1869.
