Dan Cronin is a Republican Illinois State Senator, representing the 21st district since 1993, and the chairman of the Republican Party in DuPage County.

He first gained attention in 1991 as an Illinois state representative fighting for tax relief and smaller government.

In 1993, he moved to the Illinois Senate, where he pushed legislation to extend property tax caps to Cook County homeowners.

Cronin currently serves as Republican spokesman for the Senate Education Committee and a member of the State Government and Labor & Commerce committees. He also serves on the oversight panel of the Legislative Reference Bureau.

Senator Cronin grew up in Elmhurst, Illinois. He graduated from Immaculate Conception Grade School, Fenwick High School, Northwestern University, and Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

Active in community organizations, Senator Cronin serves on the Board of Directors for the Elmhurst YMCA, Fenwick High School, the Joseph Academy, and the Community Bank of Elmhurst. He is also a partner in the law firm of Power & Cronin, Ltd. of Oakbrook Terrace.
