[edit] Unexplained death

Williams, who with other Hurley staff was attending a trade show in San Diego, had last been seen by friends around 6th and K Streets in the Gaslamp Quarter, near the Hard Rock Hotel, around two o'clock in the morning of Saturday, 26 January. He had not returned to his hotel room or shown up for his duties at the Hurley booth in the trade show.[1] After a citywide search involving volunteers and family members, Williams' body was found by passersby on the morning of the 29th in an alley in City Heights, another part of San Diego about seven miles overland from where he had last been seen alive.[2] There was no apparent lethal trauma to the body, which had been found covered in a blanket. Police believe that Williams died someplace else and that his body was moved to City Heights prior to its being discovered.[3][4] According to a news brief on the Transworld Surf website, "[f]riends said [Williams] did not use drugs and did not have a history of violence. They said it was totally out of character for him to not be in touch."[5][6]

An autopsy was inconclusive.[7]

[edit] Update

As of 21 February there has been no further progress in the case. It is still unknown of what and why Williams is dead, but a $10,000 reward was posted with the local office of Crimestoppers for information leading to an arrest in the matter.[8][9]
