IMDb profile |
Dancer, Texas Pop 81 is a 1998 comedy film about four friends in the small, fictional U.S. town of Dancer, Texas, located in Brewster County, Texas. As the title implies, only 81 people live in this town. Following their high school graduation, the four young men wrestle with their decisions to leave town for Los Angeles. The movie stars Breckin Meyer, Peter Facinelli, Ethan Embry, and Eddie Mills. Film reviewer Joe M. O'Connell, writing for the San Antonio Express-News, called the film "The finest representation of small-town Texas since The Last Picture Show."[1]
[edit] Errors in the film
The film refers to Brewster County, Texas as the largest county in the United States. Though Brewster County is the largest in Texas and among the largest in the United States, the title of "largest county" is actually held by North Slope Borough, Alaska (within the continental United States, San Bernardino County, California holds the title). The film was actually shot in Fort Davis, Texas in the neighboring County of Jeff Davis.
