Dance on Sunset is the first reality television dance show to be broadcast on Nickelodeon. The routines are designed to be performed by viewers who have little to no practical dance experience. The dancers break down the routine slowly, repeating it several times throughout the episode. During a freestyle session, several kids are picked by the dancers to compete for a chance to dance with them in the final routine. After the show, youths comfortable with the routine can proceed to the official site which offers a more advanced routine. Guest musical performances include; Ashlee Simpson, Janet Jackson, Sean Kingston, Akon, Menudo, Miranda Cosgrove, Omarion, Natasha Bedingfield, Lil Mama, Fergie, The Naked Brothers Band and Jesse McCartney. The show premiered on March 29, 2008 immediately after the 2008 Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards.[1]
