Dance Dance Revolution X, or DDR X, was announced by Konami on May 15, 2008 and is expected to be released by the end of 2008. Being released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Dance Dance Revolution, DDR X will sport an improved interface, new music, and new modes of play. DDR X will feature multiplayer over LAN for the first time ever in the DDR series. DDR X will also feature Workout Mode and EyeToy support as the previous PlayStation 2 releases.[1]

Konami announced the development of Dance Dance Revolution X on May 15, 2008 alongside Dance Dance Revolution Universe 3 and Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 2. DDR X is intended to be released as part of the 10th anniversary of Dance Dance Revolution. Konami promised that at least 70 songs would be featured in this released and that DDR X would bring with it enhanced graphics and new modes of play. Also promised was LAN multi-player support for up to 8 players, an upgraded Workout Mode that will allow players to build their own regimen, new dancing characters and the return of exiting features such as EyeToy support.[1]

On the same day Konami released several gameplay preview images that showcased new graphical content. Three new songs were also displayed in these images although at this point Konami has made no announcement to the final soundtrack of the game.[2]
