[edit] Early life

Dan was born on August 7 and grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where most of his family still resides.

Dan started playing drums at age 12. In high school, Dan was the section leader for the marching band drumline as well as the concert band percussion section. He also learned how to play piano when he was 6 years old.

He attended Full Sail University for recording/audio engineering in Orlando, Florida, where he met fellow Madina Lake bandmate Mateo Camargo.

Dan was previously in a band called Reforma with Mateo Camargo that relocated to Chicago. The two of them met Nathan and Matthew Leone from The Blank Theory, and quickly befriended them. The four of them formed Madina Lake after both The Blank Theory and Reforma had disbanded.

Dan uses Tama drums, Tama hardware, Remo drumheads, and Sabian cymbals.

  • Dan is a vegetarian and recorded a video for Peta2.com, supporting the organization.
  • Dan has an interest in pirates and has a pirate ship tattoo, along with a tattoo on his right shoulder written in Ukrainian, which translates to "remember", as well as a tattoo of a compass on the inside of his right biceps.
  • Dan remarked in a Metal Hammer article about the progressive metal band Dream Theater that their drummer Mike Portnoy is one of his biggest influences.
