Dan Satterfield

Dan Satterfield is an AMS Certified chief meteorologist for WHNT-TV in Huntsville, Alabama. Dan attended the University of Oklahoma to receive his degree in Meteorology in 1981. While at Oklahoma University, he was on the NOAA Severe storm intercept team. He has worked for TV and radio stations in Oklahoma, Florida and Alabama. He has recently received a Masters degree in Earth Science. A full member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS), Dan has been elected a member of the International Association of Broadcast Meteorologists. Since 1985, Satterfield has held the AMS Seal of approval. He enjoys photography, travel and Geology. Satterfield has worked at WHNT-TV in Huntsville, Alabama since August 1994. He also runs Wild Wild Weather, a website for kids to learn about meteorology.

Satterfield has come under criticism from some in the meteorological community for alerting viewers with unofficial "warnings" and "watches" not recognized by the National Weather Service.
