Dan Hodge Trophy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dan Hodge Trophy is awarded to the outstanding college wrestler of the year. It is the wrestling equivalent to the Heisman Trophy. It was first awarded to T.J. Jaworsky of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1995. It is awarded annually.

The Hodge Trophy is named after Danny Hodge, an outstanding wrestler for the University of Oklahoma from 1955 to 1957. Hodge was a three time NCAA champion who went undefeated at 46-0 in intercollegiate competition.

There have been only two multiple winners of the Hodge Trophy. Cael Sanderson was the first, who won the award three times, and the second was Ben Askren, who won the award two times.
