Dan Harris (politician)

Dan Harris was raised in east-end Toronto, and attended Seneca College studying computer programming. He works at Web Networks, and was a support team leader and shop steward at CEP Local 91-0. In January 2005, he returned to Seneca College for skill-upgrading. Raised in a New Democratic Party family, he joined the party in 1995 at the age of 15. Dan has worked in numerous campaigns on behalf of other candidates.
Harris has campaigned for public office four times. He was twenty-one years old during his first run in the 2000 Federal election. He was 24 in the 2004 federal election, and often mentioned that former Ontario party leader Stephen Lewis was first elected in that area at the same age.
Harris also ran for the federal NDP seat in the Riding of Scarborough Southwest in Scarborough in the Canadian federal election, 2006 coming in third behind Tom Wappel and the conservative candidate.
Harris also ran for Ward 35 in the Toronto municipal election, 2006 coming in third behind Adrian Heaps and Michelle Berardinetti.[1]
Within the New Democratic Party Dan Harris has held numerous positions both provincially and federally. Harris was active in the Ontario New Democratic Youth for over ten years, serving two terms as treasurer, editing the youth magazine Socialism and Freedom and also serving on the Provincial Executive of the Ontario New Democratic Party from 2002 to 2004.
Dan Harris also runs his own Web Design business and has designed and maintained several campaign websites including his own election websites.
