Dan Evans (born 27 January 1960 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American Major League Baseball executive. He has been in baseball his whole career, starting as an intern with the Chicago White Sox while a junior at DePaul University. worked his way to the top, eventually getting promoted to Assistant General Manager/Director of Baseball Operations. After almost 20 years, Evans resigned from the White Sox after their 2000 Central Division Championship season, but within a few months, he landed a job as a Senior Advisor with the Los Angeles Dodgers under Chairman Bob Daly. After Los Angeles GM Kevin Malone was fired early in the 2001 season, Dave Wallace was named the Dodgers’ Acting General Manager, and eventually was named the organization’s Executive Vice President and General Manager in October 2001. During his time with the Dodgers, Evans made numerous key hires, including Bill Bavasi (now Seattle GM), Logan White, John Boles, and Joe Amalfitano, and created a stir after hiring longtime friend and former New York Yankee Assistant GM Kim Ng as the Dodgers’ VP/Assistant GM, a pioneer move for females in baseball. Ng had actually started her baseball career when Evans hired her as an intern with the White Sox. When Frank McCourt bought the team in February 2004, Evans was fired despite having successfully revamped the Dodgers' farm system, bringing the organization’s minor league ranking from 28th place to a 2nd place. According to published reports, Evans had a five-year agreement with free agent Vladimir Guerrero in January 2004 before it was rejected by McCourt. Evans’ Dodger teams improved in the standings each year, and the 2004 squad he assembled won a West Division title. Evans then worked for the Seattle Mariners as Special Assistant to the General Manager, overseeing the club’s professional scouting through October 2007.. On November 1, 2007, Evans was named President and CEO of West Coast Sports Management, a Pasadena, California based athlete representation firm that features a 10,000 square foot indoor workout facility, and he is the only former MLB General Manager to oversee an agency. He and his wife, Susan, live in La Canada Flintridge, California with their daughters, Sarah and Andie.
