Dan DiDio (born October 24, 1959) is an American comic book editor and executive. He is currently the Senior Vice President — Executive Editor, DC Universe, for DC Comics, having been promoted to that position in October 2004 after having joined the company in January 2002 as DC Universe Vice President — Editorial.

Wizard magazine recognized him as its first ever “Man of the Year” in 2003 for his work on the DC Universe line.

[edit] CBS and ABC

Prior to joining DC Comics, DiDio worked in television, beginning with the American television network CBS in 1981. In 1985, he moved on to Capital Cities/ABC, where he was Public Relations Manager for the network's New York-based daytime soap operas and later worked in the network's Los Angeles offices as Executive Director of Children's Programming.

After leaving ABC, DiDio was a freelance writer and story editor for Mainframe Entertainment, specifically working on ReBoot and War Planets. Joining the company full time he became Mainframe's Senior Vice President of Creative Affairs. Dan was given the opportunity to pursue other ventures but only after selling Mainframe Entertainment's property Scary Godmother to YTV for one Canadian dollar.^{[citation needed]}

Since 2006, DiDio has been writing a weekly column called "DC Nation" which has then been appearing on the end page of most of DC Comics's main superhero titles; originally, the column was tied in to the yearlong weekly maxi-series 52, a project which he oversaw, but it has continued since.

The editorially mandated death of Spoiler and her subsequent lack of a memorial in the Batcave alongside that of the second Robin Jason Todd has made DiDio the target of criticism from fansites, such as Girl-Wonder.org.^[1] Geoff Johns has recently said that the death of Spoiler was out of DiDio's hands and that Spoiler was a favorite of DiDio's.^[2]

Recently, fan-based criticisim has extended to credit DiDio with the recent deaths of several characters throughout the DCU, particularly former members of Teen Titans and the Justice League International. Whether DiDio is actually responsible for said character deaths is questionable, though DCU Senior Story Editor Ian Sattler credited DiDio with "killing (characters) off with regularity..." in a DC Nation column.^[3] It should be noted that it is unknown whether Sattler is being humorous or not.

DiDio, along with Geoff Johns,^[4] is also said to have "mandated" the status change of Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew in Countdown. Capt. Carrot co-creator, Scott Shaw, has said that DiDio is a fan of the character.
