Dan Briody

Dan Briody is the author of the book The Halliburton Agenda and The Iron Triangle: Inside the Secret World of the Carlyle Group. He is interviewed in the movie Fahrenheit 9/11 by Michael Moore, in which he talks about how the Carlyle group benefited from 9/11. He also talks about the Bush family's connection with the Carlyle group and Saudi Arabia.

Briody has appeared on a number of national broadcasts including the Today Show, Nightline, The Jim Lehrer NewsHour, and NPR's Fresh Air. He is also a freelance journalist writing for titles like Business Week, Golf Digest, Wired, and Inc.


Briody is the youngest of 7 children and was raised in Ridgefield, CT. He attended Boston College, graduating in 1993 with degrees in both English and Philosophy. After college, he moved to San Francisco and began his journalism career reporting on the rapid wealth creation in Silicon Valley. He joined Red Herring magazine in 1999, and eventually left the magazine to begin his career as a book author.

The Iron Triangle, Briody's first book, was well-received and timely. It landed on several best-seller lists, and put Briody in the media spotlight, commenting to audiences curious about the confluence of the military business and politics. Briody appeared in many documentary films, radio shows, and television news shows, discussing the Carlyle Group and the concept of the military industrial complex.

In 2004, Briody published The Halliburton Agenda, a detailed account of the oil services and logistics company formerly run by Dick Cheney.

More recently, Briody writes freelance articles for a variety of magazines, including Martha Stewart Living, Golf Digest, Business Week, MSN.com, and Inc. He is also the founder of a communications consultancy for Fortune 500 companies.
