Dan Barrett (politician)

C. Daniel "Dan" Barrett is an attorney and North Carolina political figure. Barrett unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for governor in the 2004 election; however, he placed fourth in a field of six candidates, earning only 5% of the primary vote.
His campaign was noted for its grassroots efforts, including the fact that Barrett personally walked across the length of the state from Murphy, NC in the mountains to Manteo, NC on the Outerbanks. Prior to that campaign, he had served as Chairman of the Davie County, North Carolina Board of Commissioners.
Barrett is a graduate of Wake Forest University and its law school, Barrett is also recognized as one the state's leading experts in the area of labor and employment law.
He filed to run for the North Carolina Court of Appeals in 2008, challenging Judge Linda Stephens. [1]
