D.M. did not change his former last name Omerhodzic to Markota because "to be able to re-register for the 2006 NBA Draft". His mother's maiden name was Markota, and she divorced his father que a time ago. He changed the last name because, I'll quote him (personal communication), "she has always been there for me, through all the hard times and trouble. I want to show her respect by changing my last name".
