Damien Lecointe |
Damien Lecointe is a young artist and composer releasing on AIR's Record Makers label. His eclectic style is notable for combining elements of artists such as Serge Gainsbourg, Prince, Air, Aphex Twin, Abba, The Beatles, and Cornelius.[1] He is also known for his eclectic style outside of the music world, in terms of apparel. His music is referred to by label Record Makers as "ultra personal essays of multiple genres through a very French lens even though staying very open to the rest of the world." [2]

[edit] Themes
Themes in Damien's music reflect daily life situations and lifestyles. They range from "humour and weirdness, fun and mystery, spirituality and triviality, romanticism and pornography, elegance and decadence, coolness and intensity, popularity and experience, underachievement and precision, archaism and sophistication, comfort and surprise, luxury and purify [sic]".[3] Many parallels can be drawn between Damien and the artists on his label, such as Sébastien Tellier, I Love UFO, and Air.
[edit] Discography
Damien has released one disc to date, entitled "L'Art du Disque," which can be translated as "The Art of the Disc." The album can be seen as a meditation on the art of record production and a tribute to the recording process and all that accompanies it.
