[edit] Career

[edit] Starting out

After being trained in Killer Kowalski's Malden, Massachusetts school as "The Monkey Man Ed Bonzo", he debuted in the International Wrestling Federation in 1980 with a live monkey on his arm during interviews, where he wrestled against Dominic DeNucci, David Sammartino, and Larry Winters as a heel.

[edit] Continental Wrestling Alliance and National Wrestling Federation

After the International Wrestling Federation, Kane changed his look from a blonde pretty boy to a demonic presence wearing black leather and spikes. He spent some time in the National Wrestling Federation where he managed D.C. Drake, as well as Abdullah the Butcher and Kevin Sullivan.

During his stint in the National Wrestling Federation, Damien worked with Paul Heyman and played a part in starting Heyman's career as a commentator. Heyman later became a manager for Damien & D.C. Drake in the National Wrestling Federation as Paul E. Dangerously during the 1980s.

Dane also briefly appeared in the American Wrestling Association defeating "Surfer" Ray Odyssey on June 24 and June 25, 1988.

It was partly due to this relationship that Kane later ended up working for Heyman in Extreme Championship Wrestling, where he was best known under the name Godfather of Extreme and managed The Headhunters as well as tag-teamed with Devon Storm successfully defeating Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley at A Matter of Respect '96 [1] and later feuded with the Bad Crew, a tag team he had formerly managed. [2]

In late 1996, he and Lady Alexandria left ECW after making "inappropriate remarks" towards the then recently fired Missy Hyatt [3] and made their last appearance at Natural Born Killaz '96 on August 24 when, following the defeat of Storm by Louie Spicolli, was attacked by Spicolli who twice used the "Spicolli Driver" on him. Relocating to Florida shortly thereafter, Kane and Alexandria later moved with their son Damien, Jr. to Texas to pursue an acting career in early 2007. [4]
