Damian Hayes is a fictional high schooler on Degrassi: The Next Generation television series. He is portrayed by Mazin Elsadig. Damian was first seen as a student from Lakehurst trying to ease the school rivaly between Degrassi. He attended Liberty Van Zandt's birthday party and ended up kissing Manny Santos. He later showed up at Manny's cheerleading competition, which ended in a school brawl. After this he and Manny went their own ways, until their schools merged.
[edit] Season 6
Manny was a bit depressed when she and Craig broke up, which resulted in her throwing a house party for Liberty. Liberty would only agree to it, if she came with her to a student council meeting with Lakehurst. Manny managed to impress Damian with her idea of holding a pep ralley for the two schools. Manny thought Damian would be a good date for Liberty for her party, so she decided to hook them up.
Later that night Damian does go to her party, but he and Liberty don't click. He ends up finding Manny in a bedroom, stressed by the mess her guests are making. The two talk about love, and how you can't fake it. They kiss, but Manny pulls away because she barely knows him. Damian takes her out to the party, where they end up kissing again.
The party is called to a halt once JT is stabbed, and Damian goes with Liberty, Manny, Emma, Toby and Sean to the hospital. He gives the police a testamony that both Johnny and Drake were at the party.
After JT's death, Manny and Damian begin date, which causes her to spend most of her time with him. This manages to anger Emma and many other of her friends. Manny goes out with Emma and Sean in an attempt for them all to be friends, but this backfires. Emma doesn't stand up for Manny and Damien's relationship, which leads them into a fight.
At the cheerleading competition, Emma has the whole school chant out 'Go Home Lakehurst'. This bothers Damian, causing him to say that Manny is a saint to put up with all of Emma's crap; which leads to another fight with him and Sean. After having a sit down with Snake, Emma accepts the fact that Lakehurst didn't kill JT. She and Manny later reconcile.
[edit] Season 7
When Degrassi and Lakehurst merged schools, Damian and Manny were reunited. Both haven't spoken much since the incident at the cheerleading competitions and Damien wants to have another shot with Manny. All goes well, until Damian disagrees on how they should handle their schools. Manny believed that it was best to combine the school clubs, while he thought it was better to keep them separate. Their relationship doesn't hold up, they break it off and decide to remain friends. Damian jokes that it's just because he's black, which Holly J. happens to overhear. Rumors begin to spread that Manny is a racist, but she has Damian clear up the confusion.
During the episode "Hungry Eyes," Damien expresses a crush on Emma. Manny is constantly dropping hints that he has a "thing" for her. While selling the Purple Dragon Energy Drink, Emma kisses Damien. Whether she has feelings for him it is unknown, but the two share glances throughout the episode including the ending when Emma states it's time to show Sean that she's not the same girl he left behind.
