[edit] Introduction

Damian Foxall is an Irish sailor from County Kerry.[1] He is very well known in international offshore sailing circles and won the 2007/2008 Barcelona World Race, sailing with co-skipper Jean Pierre Dick on the Open 60 Pabrec-Virbac[2]. This triumph has turned him into something of a national hero in Ireland, lead him to be described as Ireland's top international sailor, and to a reception at the Presidential Residence in Ireland[3][4]

Foxall has been around the world on several occasions, including a World Record circumnavigation in early 2004 with Steve Fossett on the G-Class catamaran Cheyenne. He was named Sailor of the Month by Afloat Magazine in March 2004.

The round the world record was subsequently beaten by Bruno Peyron and Orange II.
