Damián Alejandro Fernández Beanato (born June 20, 1980 in Buenos Aires) is an award-winning author and journalist from Argentina, currently working for Newsweek magazine and ANSA international news agency.
After winning a first award for short-story writing at the 22nd. Buenos Aires International Book Fair (1997), Fernández Beanato studied History at the University of Buenos Aires and began working in the international press in 2002, mainly covering Latin American affairs. He has published articles in many of the most important newspapers of the region, including Clarín of Argentina and El País of Uruguay.
Among the people he has interviewed for his articles are Yona Metzger, the current Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel; UN relator Mauro Cabral; Mohammed Ali Abdalla, media commissioner of the Libyan opposition; Raúl Castells, Argentine leftist activist and ex presidential candidate; Sergio Vetrella, president of the Italian Space Agency; Mirko Tavoni, president of the Italian universities; CONICET paleontologist Fernando Novas, and many others.
