Damalasaurus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Damalasaurus" (meaning "Damala lizard") is the informal name given to a genus of herbivorous dinosaur from the Middle Jurassic, (Bajocian stage, around 160 to 175 million years ago). It was a sauropod, though its exact classification within the clade is unknown. Fossils of "Damalasaurus" have been found in China.
The type species, "Damalasaurus laticostalis", is a nomen nudum named from fossils recovered in Tibet. A second species, "D. magnus", also exists. Neither species has ever been fully described, though the name was published (by Zhao) in 1985.
