the wording at the bottom is weird, sounds like its saying Kerry was killed. Dont know anothjer way to word it though.


I think it's very important to note that Earnhardt used an old style racing seat, sitting much farther away from the wheel than just about everyone. It might not be a bad idea to mention specifics on Earnhardt's belt setup -- Earnhardt preferred a pull-up belt with the adjuster underneath the driver rather than the traditional pull-down method. He had also cut and recut his belts more than once.

As to the way the belts were installed, Childress said only that the way they were in the car during the Daytona 500 were installed behind the seat, in the same area they had been installed since 1986. "Those belts in that position had held up through some very horrendous crashes," Childress said.
