Dalton State College is one of six state colleges in the University System of Georgia. It is located in Dalton, Georgia.
The institution was founded as Dalton Junior College in July of 1963 and opened in September of 1967 offering associate degrees. In 1987, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia removed the word "Junior" from the college's name so that it became Dalton College. Later in 1998, the name of the college was changed to Dalton State College and now has the ability to offer baccalaureate degrees.

Located next to I-75, the College sits on 136 acres (0.55 km²) in Whitfield County, Georgia.
