Dalia (oil field)

Dalia oil field is a deep water oil field off the coast of Cabinda, Angola. It is in Block 17. The field is nearly 135 kilometers off the coast, with sea depths varying between 200 and 1500 meters. It has 71 wells, 37 of which go towards production. Dalia oil field was discovered in September 1997. It was put into production in December 2006.

Sonangol is the Block 17 concessionaire. Like other developments in the Block 17, the operator is Total S.A. with interest of 40%, and other partners are Total S.A. of France (40%), StatoilHydro of Norway (23.33%), ExxonMobil of the United States (20%) and BP of the United Kingdom (16.67%) [1].

Dalia is projected to contain about 1 billion barrels of crude oil (Angola has a projected 13 million barrels of recoverable petroleum)[2]. The opening coincided with Angola's entry into the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Dalia is projected to produce at its peak about 240,000 barrels of oil daily[3].
