Dale Dermot Marshall, Q.C., MP, LL.B(Hons), (born 25 November 1961) is the Deputy Leader of the Barbados Labour Party and of Opposition in Parliament.

The Hon.Dale Dermot Marshall was born on November 25th 1963. He was educated at St. Stephens Boys School, St. George Boys School, Combermere School, the University of the West Indies and the Hugh Wooding Law School.

Dale is the holder of a LLB with Honours and a Certificate in Legal Education. He is a member of the Barbados Bar Association and the Computer Law Association and served as Chairman of the Committee of Experts on Electronic Commerce of the Free Trade Area of the Americas. That Committee is one of three consultative committees agreed upon in 1994 by the Trade Ministers of the 34 countries of the Western Hemisphere at the FTAA Costa Rica Summit to analyse and make recommendations on all of the electronic commerce issues as they will impact on the establishment of the FTAA.

Dale has presented numerous lectures on Electronic Commerce and Barbados’ International Financial Services Sector in major cities in the Caribbean, the United States, Latin America, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Appointed to the Senate in 1999, he has given public service between 1994-1997 as Chairman of the Board of the National Housing Corporation, Chairman of the Urban Development Commission 1997-1999 and Chairman of the Barbados Tourism Authority 1999-2000.

From his student days at Combermere, Dale was an active member of Kiwanis International, becoming the first Barbadian Key Club Lt. Governor, Eastern Canada and the Caribbean Division. He also served as President of the Kiwanis Club of Bridgetown, 1994-1995. He is also a member of the Barbados Youth Council and numerous community groups.

Dale joined the Barbados Labour Party in 1996 because he believed that the B.L.P was the political organization best equipped to carry Barbados forward in satisfying the needs and aspirations of a modern society.

On 20 February 2006 Marshall was sworn in by His Excellency Sir Clifford Husbands at Government house, to the post of Attorney-General, a post which he held until the 20 December 2007 when Prime Minister Owen Arthur dissolved Parliament and called elections.

Following the Barbados Labour Party's defeat at the polls 15 January 2008, Dale Marshall was appointed by the new Leader of the Party and Opposition Leader Ms.Mia Mottley, to the post of Deputy Leader of the Opposition.

Dale is married and is the father of two children.[1]
